Dr. Yost will be answering anything COVID during this Zoom Event
William J. Yost, M.D. Dr. Yost serves as the Chief Academic Officer and Vice President of Medical Education and Research at UnityPoint Health-Des Moines. Dr. Yost is a native Iowan. He attended the University of Iowa College of Medicine and trained in Internal Medicine at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and a practicing general internist. After spending a total of eleven years in the Army as a medical officer, he returned to Des Moines to practice general internal medicine and teach medical students and residents on the Methodist campus. During the past 25 years, he has served as a member of the teaching faculty, as a Program Director, and now as Chief Academic Officer oversees the training of 112 residents in eight residency programs, as well as medical students from the University of Iowa and Des Moines University who complete clinical rotations at UnityPoint Health-Des Moines. He is an adjunct clinical professor of internal medicine at the University of Iowa. He is a Fellow in the American College of Physicians and the Governor of the Iowa Chapter of the American College of Physicians. Dr. Yost is married and has three children, all grown, and three grandchildren.
During the COVID 19 global pandemic, Dr. Yost has served on the Hospital Incident Command Structure as the Planning Section Chief, and in that role has been intimately involved in planning for the mitigation of the impact of COVID 19 on our patients, our staff, and the hospital.
